Ordered 3 4GB cards last fall...one of them was defective (just found out). Sent it back to Transcend under their "lifetime guarantee" and the replacement card is on it's way to me. If the same applies to the 8GB cards, it's an even better deal!
#2 Newegg's price may very well fluctuate, but Ben's price history suggests otherwise. In that case it isn't really a price drop...

#4 and #5...turned out to be a twisted affair. I was hoping for the "envelope and slap-a-stamp" solution, which should have kept return postage under $1, but I made the mistake of asking my wife to get a delivery confirmation. Since USPS told her she'd have to send via priority, she paid almost $6!!!!! AAAAGGGGHHHHH...
Well, I paid $10 for it last August, so add another $6 and it turned out to be not such a good deal. I'd snap up the 8GB in a second, if I had a garbage bin I could throw my 4GB cards into (meaning, I'm too cheap to just lose them).
FWIW, the $14-$16 price point has been around since mid-December (class 6 cards w/8GB). It's only incredible when you think back to a year or two ago.

sdcards can get smashed or even torn from the envelopes as they use a sorting machine and they get hung up in it.
It leaves an imprint of the sdcard into the paper but rips it right out of the corner.
I have seen it twice.. But might just be bad luck

#8 not sure what you meant...do you mean during factory packaging? If so I think all of mine have come in the standard clamshell package (plastic).
Or do you mean sorting/opening of returns? In that case, I returned in a double-envelope, in it's original clamshell. Doubt that would be smashed.

Any reason not to use a micro in a standard slot w/ the adapter? I have one device that uses micro rest standard, but thinking i should just get all micro so i have the most flexibility.
is price the only diff? (assuming of course all class6)

#10 I like your thinking. I started out with a cell phone that uses microSD, versus an MP3 player and camera that use standard SD. Now I have more devices that use micro than not...makes sense to stick with all micro, if you can stomach the price difference..

IMHO with the adapters there is no reason to get only micro cards, since they can be adapted to the regular size easily enough.
