Wishing I had waited a little longer a few years ago and bought a laptop with SATA...and DDR2 for that matter.

Ever any deals on 2.5" PATA drives? 80GB is pretty restrictive these days...

A few years? Even a few months will turn any current technology into old technology.

put this drive into one of the external cases continuously found on Ben's site for around $15 and your in business. If you move your data to this drive, your 80GB internal should be enough to host any applications. I used velcro to attach the drive case to the back of the laptop display for convenience.

#1, 160GB PATA should be around $65 these days. It's not really getting any cheaper since it's obsolete now.

Thanks guys...I kinda like the velcro idea actually...that beats having that big thing dangling everywhere.

Oh, and it would work well for hard drive enclosure too Wink

How come all the suddenly this and a lot of other regular items have become a deal? Newegg.com has this drive at this price for several months at least since last October, during which twice the price hit $50, though before January 1 the price was $80 - $20 Rebate.

Spend the extra $14 and get the faster 7200RPM seagate (better drive) without the rebate (74 after discount code).

#6 - This is probably the case with 80% of the crap on this site.
