This is a great camcorder. A couple years old, but still performs better than some of the new ones that are out. hv30 and hv40 are its younger brothers.

I've bought lots of refurb photo gear, all of it looked and worked like new. I wouldn't be concerned. The image quality from this camera is astoundingly good, BTW. The mic does pick up a lot of motor whine, though.
