Battery life is awesome 7-8 hours, but even at $440 this is over $200 more than the HP at Staples....

OK it is a 10.2" screen and 1gb ram versus 9" and 512MB for the HP but still....

buy.com has the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 at $300 shipped. 10.2" screen and 512mb ram.

This is supposed to be the best Netbook. Now we just need it to cost as little as the Dell Mini9

This is currently the most highly rated netbook out there. Is it worth the premium over a lenovo, wind, or eee though? If you want the best get it. For value, look elsewhere.

Since this is a 10.2 it seems that the Lenovo 10.2 would be the closest comparison. The Lenovo has been coming in at $100 - $140 dollars less expensive but the battery reviews are not great. Plus, with this you have to deal with Buy.com which kills the deal.

Man, I wish I had the funds for this. Spec-wise, it is everything I personally am after in a netbook. But I have to wait until something like this hits $300 before I can justify jumping in. Good deal, but still above my price-point.

For price and battery, I would go with the 1000/1000ha eee.

I have one of these and it works very well. I upgraded to 2 gb ram easily as well. I think the Eee may be slightly cheaper, but I have don't have much to complain about w/ this one, although I wish they made it in black when I bought mine. Since so many of these netbooks have the same or similar specs, you are basically paying for the form factor.

Can you play WoW on this?

I got the 1000HA and the mouse button on the touch pad feels really stiff and hard to press. The build quality also looks and feel a little cheap.
If this comes with gigabit ethernet plus n wireless then I can understand the price tag for this.

it looks pretty slick, and i'd rather have this over a hp or a dell, it's still as cheap/cheaper than many larger laptops.

Very handy little machine - will run Windows 7 without much difficulty. Best battery life around for netbook. Is my new road trip machine.

Very helpful blog if you are considering Win 7 on this machine:

IMO, i would hold out for a little longer. After going to CES, Asus and MSI are both coming out with some really nice netbooks.

Asus has a couple touchscreen versions (tablet style) and MSI has a sportier looking Wind and also a nice "Mac Air" look alike that's slightly more, but if you start saving up now, you'll get a lighter better and longer lasting netbook.

Anyone know of any 5,7,10% coupons out there to get this price down a bit more?

    Would I be crazy to consider a Dell off-lease Latitude D410 for $374 - 30% coupon + 18 shipping + 20 to increase to 2GB ram (from 512)??
    ~$300 total shipped...

Pentium M processor 1.6, 60 GB HD, CDRW/DVD (external)....supposed to have great battery life

I know Dell Outlet refurbs and scratch and dents are top quality, is off lease asking for trouble?

#18 - I can't answer your questions, but I've been asking them of myself for a while. Seems as if it would be a wash to me. Then I could install XP Pro from another Dell CD instead.
    Hmmm

Size, weight, processor, ram, storage capacity, too many choices, and at the moment, all of them cost more than I want to afford. . .
