honestly, this is too big to actually use at a desk... buy yourself 2 22" or 24" and spend the money you saved on wine, women and the rest foolishly.

Agreed. I think even the 24 inch is too much screen at a normal desk. I have two 20" LCDs (Dell 2001FPs) and I think it's just about the perfect balance.

you get use to anything faster than you think. Before you know it, 27' would seem too small.

i have 25.5" 1080p (1200p for you purists) monitor that i use with my HD cable box. works great. cheaper than 720p TV. Though I got it for much cheaper than this ($290). No, it's not a Westy. It's an Asus.

what panel is this?

Will the .303 dot pitch be a problem? I'm near sighted, will keep the monitor 4 ft away, and increase Vista DPI settings and zoom in on applications like MS Excel. Will I really notice .303 dpi vs .26 dpi (24" monitor) under those conditions?

I'm deciding between this and the 24". Price is not an issue. 27" seems perfect size for me but the DPI is a concern. 30" is just too big and 1600p is too much of a waste.

I hope BestBuy has a 24" and 27" on display so I can try them in person and judge for myself. In the meanwhile I'd appreciate feedback from those who've tried these monitors.

Isn't a 24" widescreen just a 19" ordinary screen widened out? And why wouldn't one want all the screen real estate one could afford?

#9, 30" is just way too big for me personally. Even 4 feet away (my desk set up), I have to look up and sideways to view the entire monitor. Maybe I'm not used to it but that's how it feels at the store.

Besides, 1600p is a complete waste. I only game occasionally and all other sources are 1080p max and it'll stay this way for at least 7 years if not longer.

A lot of people like to put 3-4 documents and view at the same time but I don't have the sharp eyesight to use the monitor like that. I'd want to zoom in on 1-2 documents at once.

I have a 1080p 37" monitor and it's way way too big. You think you can't get too big but it can.

It just hurts your eyes after about an hour. It's nice to have 2 windows open to save time, but you'll lose that time rubbing your eyes.

Get a 28" Hanns Gg for $360 at the egg, Not to big for me or WOW or my 2yr old NVIDA 7950 gt 512mb. 700 reviews. VA is not a panel type, see WP.

I am waiting for some LED back light products to come out.

I have a 24 and it's too small. Just worried dropping a 1K and have bad pixels. Unacceptable! But who dosent like bigger?

I bought this monitor refurb'd @ $549 and I love it. I too thought the 27 would be too big, but clearly none of you have stared at a 27" for longer than 5 minutes. For gaming it's top notch, with no noticeable ghosting (unlike the 24" EVEN AFTER THE UPDATE).

The pixel pitch is a little bit noticeable. In games, you cant tell at all. On a vista desktop, the 24" does seem a little sharper, although I have never seen both side by side. If you're sitting 4 feet away, you wont notice it.
