I opened up an account in late 2007 with HSBC. At that time they offered 3.5 percent interest. In has gone steadily downhill since then.

i did the same as #3. theyve been dropping the rate bit by bit.

i dont expect them to keep you at this 2.25% for long.

yes, when my online savings account was started it was over 5% as well. As interest rates go back up so will these, it will just take a while.

rates on these follow short term lending rates. This rate is about right. Emigrant direct seems the same or higher, I use them.

They will all be out of business soon.
Invest in a quality mattress so you can sleep in comfort even though your money is underneath it.
Better yet, revert to the barter system where money is just worthless paper (not too far from reality there).

am with Citi...was 4.5% when i had opened...these rates suck...going down steadily!
