Back in the day, both lowes and home depot had a sweet price match policy. If something was priced less at their competitor, they would you give you the lower price + 10% off the item! (not 10% of the difference, 10% off the whole thing!)
unless the 2 stores had EXACTLY the same price, I would get it for 10% off. luckily the 2 stores were approx 1/4 mile apart in my town. go to one, write down the price, then go to the other. then go to the opne with the higher price and ask for the price match. it worked good for big items like a bunch of lumber or pipe that never went on a big sale.

I don't know if they still do this, I have moved on to bigger things.

most stores will honor this, I checked on it.

With 7000 employees being laid off, I expect a lot better offers than this, with all the money they are saving.
