got one of these for about the same price at woot during the last wootoff. I know they're cheap, but I hope they work ok. I have 2 wacoms on 2 other computers, so I'm used to decent quality.

Wacoms are good and the maintain their drivers. The drivers are a key aspect of usability in a tablet. Unless these are software compatible with Wacoms, I wouldn't touch it.

You're right about drivers...I have an old Cross writing/graphics tablet..bacon was great, but they don't have any updated drivers for it.

There is a standard device interface for tablets on all three major platforms. You just aren't necessarily going to get the same featureset on every tablet, like levels of sensitivity, tilt, eraser. You can get a used Wacom for under 200 which is a vastly superior tablet, but if you just want a basic absolute positioning pen device then these things are great. I use one of these for online shared whiteboards at work where I just need to get stuff onscreen.
