But I think you're better off just getting a big 7200 drive. What it lacks in seek time it will make up for in higher transfer rates because of the higher density. If you really want performance, buy the big hard drive and partition it to just use the fastest part, or make a fast and slow partition (which you wouldn't be using simultaneously). The fast partition will have better performance than this thing. Some discussion here:

this is perfect for a boot drive. I currently use two 36gb raptors in raid-0 and it just isn't enough room for apps and games. This would be perfect, especially if you don't want to spend over 200 for the 300gb version.

I have an OCZ SSD Core 2 in my XP system. It performs fairly well, except for a few pauses here and there. Still a work in progress; I expect with some more tweaking it'll be better. When the Intel SSD's get a bit larger and come down in price, there'll be no reason not to use one for a system drive.

i have two 80gb versions. I love mine in RAID 0. I imagine these are much faster.
