#1 You will read many strongly held opinions posted here at Ben's. Western Digital, Seagate, Fantom,(depending on model) all have their proponents. Some posters share experiences with other brands as well. Most are very aware of what is a good price and what isn't.
You can always check reviews of the drives at the seller's site and also at competitor's sites. Google the full name of the drive and you'll get links to other reviews, as well.
If you read comments here for several weeks, you'll soon know who recommends what and why and hopefully have a good idea what drive would best suit your purposes.
