I have been looking for a good deal on a good blu-ray player. Does anybody have this one? It's only $30 dollars off for being refurbished. Doesn't seem like a good deal. Plus most people are complaining about the packaging.

Yeah #1 $199 on Amazon. A lot of people complain about quirky play-back with this. Plays some discs not others, especially newer ones. I suspect the main cause is not doing a firmware update. I guess a lot of people can't get their heads around having to update a piece of consumer electronics.

Anyhow I have an older model Samsung BD player, it is really good when it works. I too had issues but the latest firmware update seems to have fixed all, now I'm very happy with it.

BD players should be $200 or less as they where at the Holidays, I don't get the current premium prices.

Just a note, my main BD player is a PS3, which BD wise has been flawless all along.

Amazon without tax is the better deal since its new. This player does not play AVCHD though, despite the specs listing that it does. I am able to play my AVCHD home movies on my PS3 just fine, but this player didn't recognize them, even after updating the firmware.
