This Sony is rated one of the bestbuy by WhatVideo magazine.
    Very strong video and feature.

... refurb... I'll pass on this one.

Anything I owned that was Sony eventually (not at first) gave me a major problem.

I bought this BP as a refub about a year ago and it is still going strong and great enjoyment when combined with a netflix account to get the media. Unlike many other Sony product, support has been great. They have released more than 5 firmware updates and each one gets better. Early reviews of this model sucked (slow, wouldn't play Pirates of the Carribean) but v3 of firmware fixed all problems I have had. The only feature this lacks is a LAN connection for getting the BlueRay Live content, but I rarely use any special features other than the deleted scenes and the Line-O-Rama. The DVD upscaling is also excellent.

Of note, you can sign up for the SOny credit card and use it to spend an extra $150 ($300 total at any store) to get a $150 credit. That makes this free after the credit. My credit was applied directly to statement.

Sorry folks, it's only a $100 credit right now for spending $300. It goes up to $150 occasionally:

#9, I played Wall-E Blue ray on mine. It loaded a little slow (about 1 min) but played fine. You might need to update your firmware. Go to Sony's website and search the support pages... you can burn a CDR with the update and play it in the player. It takes about 15 minutes.

#9, Better yet, just go to the Sony site and request a firmware update CD and they will ship it out free. No fuss, no muss and you know you won't have download/burning problems. Prompt delivery via USPS.

I agree! Blu Ray does suck and PS3 is so doomed.

    PS3 SUCKS!!

I bot a refub notebook from sonystyle and they offered only 3 month of warranty - I wonder do they extend warranty for this junk to at least a year?

Very good quality picture. No support for latest audio digital stream. Worse, it does not have any BD Live support (no ethernet support). Hence this player cannot be used to stream Netflix directly to the TV.

I picked up the BDP-S350 on BF for 150.. it's kind of noisy, but a good player.. things load faster than my Toshiba HD DVD (but that's not hard, lol) and the picture quality is amazing...

I just download movies from Netflix. This really isn't needed. I wonder when movies are going to start coming on flash (no scratched discs)?
