Digital tuner attached to cable will pull in local channels and public access only, NOT basic cable channels (which are still analog). So you will get channels 2-13, and a bunch of telemercial crap. If you are only looking to pull in ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox this will work. Anyhting else you will need an analog tuner for.

I have other qam tuners and that is not true. I get all the channels analog and digitial, except for the scrambled ones. It depends on your cable company on what that is. By law they can't scramble any channel that is available over the air.
