But then you cannot use DDL and DTS together, you can only use one of them at one time. Both are fully optimized and sound the same, no one can tell the difference. Any receiver that supports DDL also supports DTS.
You will be paying royalties on 2 codecs but using only one.
Go for the Diamond Monster sound DDL, its worth the 60 bucks. I bought mine used for $18 on eBay.
Only 5 cards support hardware DDL/DTS or both as far as I know. If you dont have hardware DDL or DTS, you will have to use the analog ports and draw one cable out of your sound card for every speaker pair.
