Lenovo is better than HP for 15" at this price point, but so is Dell. The difference is the sturdiness of the casing, switches, control panel, etc. Some of the HPs are so poorly designed that you actually have to take the whole case apart just to clean out the fan which is inexcusable on a full 15" sized laptop.
#6, it's not slow they are just being weenies. People did "high end" applications for years on much slower machines than this. It is true it can't game well, nor can any $435 laptop, but pop in $20 worth of memory upgrade and it should do fine.

Are you discussing about Lenovo or about IBM/Thinkpad machines?
I owned/used several but none of Lenovo except an X61 which was designed by IBM. So do you say the machines designed by IBM are better than HP's and Dell's or what?
However, I believe there is no significant differences between them, except Lenovo's profit is withheld/transferred to China.
Lenovo used Thinkpad to penetrate the America market. That does not necessarily mean their OWN products are better than HP's or Dell's. But hell yeah, if Dell & HP and others ignore this, then we will prepare to bail them out just like GM and Chrysler. On second thought, no. Let's use that money to bail the ghetto dogs out. But not Ben. He's already rich.

I'm typing this on a lenovo y430 that I bought like 6 months ago. These machines are awesome, of course this is an ideapad and their construction is a lot more sturdy. I have dropped this laptop from a bed on a wood floor with no problems, not even a scratch. They're also not all shiny and metallic like HPs, and I owned a dell before, they simply suck. The lenovo laptops are no ideapads, but they are good and this price point is great. Most people dont do anything but use laptops to surf, type, and watch movies, so you'll be fine.

#10 I've owned Dell, HP, Toshiba and Lenovo computers. I've had two Dell laptops and a desktop - all three were junk. I had an HP laptop that was a good computer but the hinges broke when it was a little over a year old and it cost almost as much to fix it as it cost brand new. My wife has a Toshiba that is a good computer but constantly has problems that can be attributed to Vista. I currently have a Lenovo laptop that is roughly 3 years old and has never given me a bit of trouble and a Lenovo netbook that is a little over 4 months old and once again has never given me the slightest problem. You are entitled to your opinion but I'm buying Lenovo until their product gives me a reason to try someone else.

I've owned both a T61 and D630 business class notebooks. The T61 is quite a bit better built than the D630 including a difference in paint/texture. DELL's paint began to rub off after a few month while Lenovo still looks new besides a few scratch.
