this thing is awesome, its one of my favorite Ronco gifts for dad. However the tighter the bolt is, the harder it is to get it off the ratchet.

not for high torque applications, but great overall tool to keep in the toolbox - saved me some torching on rounded bolts

This is one of those tools that makes you wonder why it wasn't invented long ago. Great socket for semi-stripped heads, or if you don't know the size and don't want to keep going back to the box.

Hmm. I might need one of these things. It won't round off the nut. Will it?

I got one of these when they first came out (was that around 10 years ago?) and some of the teeth things got permanently stuck in the retracted position rendering the gator grip useless. But it seems like everyone else liked theirs?

I got one long ago when it first came out and it broke almost immediately. a couple of the "teeth" fell out and then it was useless.

Maybe you should have encouraged it to brush and floss more often.

As mentioned, these are very useful, but don't use them on high torque jobs. They're for convenience not tough jobs.

It will also round off bolts if it's very tight. Limited usefulness since a bolt that isn't very tight shouldn't be hard to get off with a standard socket without rounding it, though I can see a use if you come across one somebody else already mangled by using the wrong sized socket.
