Alternatively, #14 has a good idea. Buy $3000 worth of something you can exchange immediately: cash.

spending $3000 over 6 months isn't really a problem for most of the working adult.
but think about it... out of pocket $3000, cash back $300, over the course of 6 months... that's a not a deal...
Dell sometimes offer 15% off coupon anyway...

Ya im sure its east to spend $3000, but alot of these game players are young, like myself. So spending $3k is tough. But being able to get the $100 for just buying the ps3 is an awsome deal. It makes it the same price as the 360 elite, i think.

I signed up for a sony card few weeks back with $200 statement credit. I didn't get approved right away, but received the card a week or so later. Another week after activating my card, my statement(online) showed $200 credit! The whole process was simple and beneficial.

Meh. I like my Citi dividend card, though not as good as it used to be.

man you guys cant read...you do not have to purchase $3000 in the next 6 months, unless you want up to an extra $200 credit...
2. You will qualify for a second $100 card credit when you charge to your PlayStation Card account an additional $1,500 within the first 3 months of account open date. You will qualify for a third $100 card credit when you charge to your PlayStation Card account an additional $1,500 by your 6 month anniversary of your account open date. Limit of three (3) $100 card credits to each new PlayStation Card account, after each qualifying spend limit is met within the specified timeframes described above. This offer may not be combined with any other PlayStation Card offer.
no where does it say you have to spend $3000

Nope - Thats what they did to me around Xmas. I wanted this deal for Xmas and they sent me the cards 3 weeks later (2 days before Xmas). I threw the cards in the trash and never activated them. They shouldnt say instant verification....

I signed up for this card last month. I bought $300 worth of outdoor stuff for my kids at Academy and got the $100 credit. I also got the second credit for making another $1500 in regular purchases. I'm just using the card for normal purchases until I get the last $100. I was going to get the PS3, but when I realized I didn't have to to get the rebates, I decided the other stuff was more important.
Maybe they have changed the deal this time so check the details. The details on mine said the first $100 would be credited after a purchase of $299 or over. It didn't specify the purchase must be from Sony Style. The SonyStyle site try to get you to buy from them and makes it seem like that is the only option.
You will also get 1% rewards points that you could redeem for other Sony merch if you want. ($3,300 in purchases could get you close to a controller, especially if you answer trivia questions on the rewards site and register Sony items to get extra points)
I don't think you can beat this for a credit card signup. It's about 10% in cash back and rewards on your first $3,300 in purchases. SDeals and CAGamer have been talking about it for a while.

Bragging about your debt and expenses, classy!
Reminds me of that commercial about the guy that says "look at my house, look at my car, I am even a member of my country club.....How do I do this, I am in debt up to my eye balls"

I think it's a good deal even if you don't get to spend $3000 in 6 months.
