#19 Is right on. But the problem is if you want "Backgrounder" or "Clippy" you have to Jailbreak your phone.

You are not eligible to upgrade at a discounted price due to your length of service. However, you may still purchase a phone/device at the full price. Our records indicate that you will be eligible for an upgrade at a discounted price on 09/22/2009

The 16GB is listed as Your Price* $499.00
*Requires 2-year contract
The 8GB is listed as Your Price* $399.00
So they are willing to let me get an Iphone but I would have to pay more than normal and still extend my contract out 2 years from its current end date.

Does anyone know what the price of the refurbished iphone would cost without 2 year contract? My friend said he got one for $250 but I'm not sure @@ It sounds really cheap.

You can get the 16GB 3G iPhone Refurb for $96.85
AT&T is giving you the Refurb 16GB 3G iPhone for $149.00. Live Search Cashback is giving you $52.15 (35%) back on top of that. That makes the final cost for a 16GB Refurb 3G iPhone $96.85!
1. Just go to www.live.com search for ATT Wireless and at the top of the "sponsored sites" in the yellow - you'll see AT&T Official Site. It'll have a little gold coin looking thing with a smaller font link that says "live search cashback" next to it.
2. Click on either link and you'll see a page asking for your email to sign up for cashback that pops up. Make sure you fill that in to get signed up for the cash.
3. It'll then put you right into AT&T's site and you can buy whatever you want (Yes even iphones!) and get 35% cashback.

no, as long as you have the iphone, you can't get away from paying for the data plan.

Got to admit, I LOVE MY I-PHONE. Got the 16gb refurbished and had to go to apple store to fix phone problems. ATT are retards. Apple gave me another one, refurbished and it looks and function like new! LoVE it.

I'm thinking of buying an iphone, cancel the contract and be stuck with the $175 cancellation fee and keeping the iphone. How much total will that cost? Thanks.

The iphone SUCKS! I refused one that my office tried to push upon me. I am sticking with my Treo 750. It does everything I want... I can copy and paste! I can record video... (I am not sure if apple added that or not with the 3g version) I can change out my battery whenever I want...
I am by no means a fanboy of any particular brand/phone... I just hate apple. Everything is overpriced... and like someone mentioned earlier the exclude x,y,z and then release the same product later with x,y,z and people go ape shit over it. MORONS!

#25 i think maybe she means she bought a refurbished iphone 2G last year just before the 3G came out. last April, may ATT was selling the 8GB iphone 2G for $250. nice thing is technically you needed a contract as the iphone would not do anything until you activated it on the att network but luckily that was very easy to get around. they didn't make you sign up for att service until you tried to use the phone, vs when you bought it. if you just put an att sim card in there(it didn't even need to have an active account), the phone would activate and work, or if you didn't have one you could jail break it and use it on any provider, so in essence you bought a subsided iphone without having to get the contract. ATT figured out people were doing this, so they now force you to get a contract when you buy the phone. people made out big time, buying up 2G iphones and reselling them for 2-3x. I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a couple, although i did get a used one off eBay for $217 after cash back and shipping.
