is this any good? does anyone know how many points for every dollar we spend?
I get offers for this in the mail all the time - they offer one point per dollar spent.
anyone have the citibank rewards card as well as this one?
wondering which one is better.
i have citibank rewards and they just changed the reward rates.. used to be 5% for grocery stores and gas, now its 3
I have this and a Citi Professional Card. I would say the Citi Professional is a better card because the award points accumulate quicker - not to mention the 15,000 they give you to open.
i own this card and use it regularly. In my opinion, this card offer the best cashback for your purchase. FYI, some credit card companies have changed their rules and now some of them only give you bigger percentage of cashback only to certain merchants/type of business. AMEX will give you 5% cashback on gas, drugstore & grocery everywhere. any other purchases will earned 1.5% if you reach $6,500 for the year. otherwise is 0.5%
I've had AmEx, Chase, Citi and Discover over the years. AmEx treats me absolutely the best, and Discover has been good as well. Chase and Citi have treated me like dirt, especially Citi who I had to send letters certified mail+registered receipt which they still tried to lie that they didn't receive.
As such, virtually everything I buy is on my Business Green or Business Blue AmEx cards. Customer service is unbeatable, especially as I travel heavily for my work. I've racked up over 100,000 points in 18 months.
I agree with #6. Credit limit increases are also very easy to get done through AMEX, if you need one. Also, I have been able to call them and get my APR lowered, simply by mentioning other competitors APRs. Each time, they were very helpful.
I would say Discover customer service is best. Amex is great too; however, I've heard some horror stories once you get on their bad side.
My Chase rewards visa is capped, VERY annoying. Check limits on all reward programs.
I have to disagree with #6 and #7. Amex has been pretty stingy with my Blue's credit limit. And no, it has nothing to do with me.
I have the Discover Platinum which I use more than this card. It has better rewards and I like the cash back too.
AMEX is super. As for credit, I don't use it, but they give me $50K. I've ordered major equipt. for client and gotten the 5% back too!!
Plus I had trouble with a Tosh. laptop, in the the 2nd yr. after mfg. Warranty. Amex made good on it and didn't even want the old one back... zero hassle. I was cheated by the ARMPIT of the net, Buy.co... Called Amex and they stuck it to them... no argument, zero hassle on any of this.
I had the opposite experience trying to exercise an extended warranty once on a MC. They made me get an estimate, only at an "authorized" place, of course, and stuck me with the $40 rip for the estimate plus shipping etc. for sending the garbage to MC (which they probably chucked). And slow wasn't the word for it... and that was peanuts compared with the laptop Amex paid for about 10 days after I first called.
Discover has a better rebate on small stuff, g gas, but as other have said it is capped. The AMEX Blue 5% isn't 5% until you exceed a present amount....as I recall its something like $5k.
Hope this helps others.
