Amazon has the Above All Forearm Forklift Lifting Straps for $12 with free shipping on $25. Makes moving large heavy items a breeze by providing handles on any hard-to-handle pieces. Features a 600lb capacity, 48 inches of adjustable strap, and reduces weight of item being carried by 66%.
i have these, they actually really help to lift items that are awkward, ie, no good place to hold on. sure, you could use some ropes, but these are cheap and useful
Yup, I second. My girlfriend helped me move a washer, dryer, large buffet, king mattress and large chest with these. I didn't have an appliance dolly and couldn't have done it without them. It really helps when the two people are different heights cause you can slide the straps to fit both people.
As long as both people have the same elbow height these work good otherwise the short person has the weight directed towards you. Hurt your back, not at all, you can't lift with you back, actually not even your arms, legs only. Slip the straps on & stand up & the object goes up with you. I haven't tried stairs with this.
Impregnated with anti-matter which actually negates 66% of an object's weight. Use these to lift your car, truck or overweight wife. Use at the gym to impress your friends! Coming soon: zero gravity straps, turn any vehicle into a landspeeder!
A similar product, the Shoulder Dolly, costs a little more but works great. I'd rather have weight distributed over my shoulders than my forearms. Northern Tool had them on sale recently for ~$30 and may still be on sale.

600lb capacity... how much can 2 people lift before they hurt their back?
The shoulder ones are better for moving stuff along stairs. Amazon reviews say that the forearm ones are not good for stairs...

Seems to be an issue with Amazon selling knockoffs based on reviews from "Amazon Approved Purchasers".
