The Asus 1000HE has a slightly faster N280 and faster FSB but, more importantly, adding 800mhz RAM lets you overclock it more than other netbook, short of soldering a new cpu onto Celeron MB.

I weighed the two (Acer vs 1000HE), and in the end I picked the Acer mostly for the extra battery life on the 5800mah battery I ended up with. Supposedly newer shipments only have a 4400mah. Costco lists the 4400mah battery but sells this for the same price plus a case and mouse. The Acer mouse buttons are horrible though and the touchpad can be inconsistent. Why don't they use tried and true equipment from the regular model laptop?

The HE has an 8700Mah battery. Asus claim 9.5hr battery life but 6-7 is more realistic.

#5, that's an HEB, not an HE.

My HA never gets more than 5 or so hours. I think it's the wifi that saps the battery.

#3, if it makes you feel any better, the mouse buttons on the Asus aren't steller either. I wind up double-tapping the pad alot instead. The pad is OK, but needs to be tuned. Default (under eeebuntu anyway) is too sensitive.

Same price and shipping deal as Amazon, right? I do like the 2 day shipping for <$5 though.

#7, I found the Asus 1000HE touchpad way too sensitive too. My cursor kept jumping up the page in the Word document when I was using it. I figured it just needed a tweak in the sensitivity though.

Forget about touchpad. Just use keyboard. It's much faster AND you can close your eyes to do it.
