^^ XP doesn't really need to be supported anymore after having a huge knowledgebase and several service packs.

Stability depends on the apps and drivers, which already exist, and security on your holes which with this would tend to be email client or browser... either way, simply making a system partition backup and putting data elsewhere covers much of the issue.
