Sorry, the Asus Transformer is still better. IPS screen, dockable keyboard/battery combo, GPS, and better software upgrade. Already updated to Honeycomb 3.1 and not stuck on 3.0

Of course, the Asus is 30% more expensive, too. And this will almost inevitably get upgraded to three dot one... (edited to make Ben's filters happy)

The Asus is a better tablet, yes, but you pay a price premium for it, so there is a budget to consider.

#2, Asus 32GB is 30% more expensive. Asus 16GB (same as this one) is only 5% more expensive.

The Asus Transformer is $399 as a regular price while the Acer Iconia is $499 regular price. This ebay deal only made it $380 which is only about $20 more.

Tell me how to switch out the horrible LCD on the Acer Iconia for an IPS LCD for $20.

I think binaryvisions was comparing it to the Amazon vendor price. If you only look hard enough, you can always find the 16G in stock. The place I got my 32 still has the 16 in stock. They were one of Asus' listed retailers too. The only down side is you have to pay shipping. However, Amazon had the 16 available for a few times last week, and the 32 for 8 days already.

You say the Asus is better and the Acer is CRAP. Obviously, you are talking out you A$$. You are talking about the same exact thing for the most part. They both are still the same Chinese assembled Tegra 2 dual core tablets. The only real difference is the IPS screen on the Asus(pretty, but light bleed) And yes it has a keyboard dock($150 extra). Whereas the Acer has a Very good LCD screen(not CRAPPY) built in USB(non on Asus without dock). OH and a big difference...the build quality between the two units, Asus flexes and feels of much lower quality compared to Acer which as barely a stick of gum heavier.

I have had both in my hands and chose to buy the Acer. For you dumba$$'s who think you know something. The regular price for the ASUS is $399(16gb) and the ACER is $450(16GB). The dock that makes the Asus have "additional" battery life($150 More).

As for the Honeycomb 3 . 1 update. Sure Asus put it out last last week, but Acer will get it in the next week or two. What is the rush. The Acer works great and the reason the Asus had so many updates already, was it was released with fouled software. Xoom has had the same issue, and they still have a broken SD slot.

Be better informed when you post. Not everything on the net is accurate. Go to a store and play with the actual item. If you still get the Asus, you will likely be happy. It is not a bad device, but if you don't want to carry the dock and pay $550 for a tablet and keyboard. Get the Acer, $100 cheaper and USB on board.

Acer = CRAP. Just compare every laptop Acer makes vs ASUS. Don't tell me Acer's build quality trumps ASUS or you will lose every credit you have.

The ACER doesn't flex because it's thicker and heavier. Somebody stuck a heavy metal plate in the back of the thing.

Yes the LCD does suck because they put in an average netbook LCD and neglect on the viewing angles which is why every premium tablet is using an IPS display.

The USB port on the tablet really adds nothing because when I'm out with the EEE Pad, I don't need to plug in anything to be plugged in. More holes for dust to get in. It is by design that Asus chose to put USB on the dock keyboard which is a better thought than putting a gazillion ports on a tablet.

There's a lot of anger on this post.

I suppose I could take the high road and say we should all just get along, but I'll stoke the flames of hate and just throw my support behind the Apple iPad.

Which is SOOOOO much better than other tablets.

      MUHA Twisted Evil

      Are you 12?
Your post comes across as if your are in the pre-teen age group. I will give you that Acer has made sub-par items in the past. BUT, wake up. They make a decent product for the money now and have for the past couple years. As for Asus being supreme. They make just as many faulty products as the rest of the Taiwan companies.
As for the "Steel Plate" on the Acer. It probably does add to the rigidity, yet not the weight. And you never know when you might need to transfer a file or, who knows what may come down the road that a tablet might need a USB port to take advantage of. By then the next gen tablet may be in our hands, but for now. It is good to have without bringing you keyboard dock.

To add: you are the fool above acting like a fanboy and misquoting things as fact that are clearly wrong. You got the Acer price wrong. You got that Acer is "stuck in 3 . 0" and You are also wrong as to the screen of the Acer. The viewing angles are (don't quote me) 160 degrees compared to Asus with 178 degrees with its IPS screen. Lay both tabs flat in front of you. Both are easily read.

DO YOU EVEN OWN ONE OF THESE TABLETS? I do! PM me and show me the proof. I will gladly send you a pic of me holding my ACER. And yes I could have bought the Asus and saved $50...BUT facts are facts. At this very moment in time the Acer is the better "quality" device compared to Asus. Next month there will be more tabs to choose from and maybe you can flame about those too!
