Has anyone here taken a test drive on an Acer tablet yet? This deal is tempting, but I have more confidence in an Apple refurb than an Acer - anyone wanna weigh in?
I've used an Acer A500 for about a year. I picked mine up as a refurb for $260. The unit itself has been rock solid. The tip of the charger plug, however, is the most fragile thing I've ever seen. If you aren't VERY careful it WILL break off. Mine broke and I've managed to fit it back on, but I really should buy another charger soon.
The A200 is the slightly stripped down version of the A500. It has only one camera, no HDMI, and feels a bit cheaper than my A500. Someone I know bought an A200 after seeing my A500, thinking it was the same thing. They weren't happy with what was missing and returned it for an A500.
I've owned an A500 for about a year and like it, too. I bought it new from Staples last year for $300+tax when they had a $100-off-tablets coupon available. It's a nice tablet, and I would pick it over the A200 since I sometimes use the HDMI output.
Acer has an official EBay store where they sell refurbished tablets. The 8GB A500 is usually around $210 and the 16GB A500 is usually around $230, but they sometimes discount the 16GB model to $210 or so.
