Get a 2ms monitor instead. Gaming or watching movies on a 5ms causes strain in the eye.
It's an awesome screen if that's all you want. It lacks a lot of the fancy features like USB ports and sound from a lot of its contemporaries. Also, the stand is not removable after it is attached. (Not without breaking it anyway.)
I have the AL2216WBD.
There don't seem to be too many differences between the two and I have had no issues with mine.
However I do not watch movies, but play lots of games.
How does it cause eye strain? I was looking for a cheap one to play video games on. Is getting a 2ms going to add another $100 to it?
this looks great and pretty big 22'. i currently have a 24' dell and im thinking of getting a new one but this one looks great.
I've been using it for a little over a year now. It's not as good as my Dell 22' but it's still nice.
Does the stand allow it to raise and lower? or just tilt?
If you're a gamer you might want to consider the ASUS VW222U at newegg I think it was about 180.00 after rebate last time I checked. Good reviews at the Egg and Anandtech forums.
i have this monitor. i was amazed at the brightness... but also at how black the blacks are. color is very good for a budget monitor. i have no complaints. i do not play video games, but have watched plenty of movies on it, and it's great!
the stand does not lower, but it does tilt up and down. the stand is very difficult to take apart once assembled. but i did it. it just takes some patience.
I'm in
it's nice to see acer getting good reviews. I'm quite tempted by the 1920x1080 monitor on the egg and ZZF. They look pretty sweet and even come with an HDMI cable too. Quite the deal for sub-$200. I'm hoping black friday or cyber monday will bring some better prices, if not I'll just pick it up for the price it's at because they are still great.
I like Dell Ultra sharp Monitors
still a good price for a 22inch even if it's 2ms
I am pleased with mine had it for 6-8 months now
Decent monitor, don't expect any thrills, but for business graphics and some gaming it's pretty good (if you are "pro" gamer I'd probably go for 2ms, altho all these ratings aren't very meaningful anyways)
i have an acer al2223w and it came configured from the factory with exceptional brightness. i believe this is to distract owners from the poor color reproduction (compared to non-TN panels). i toned the brightness way down when calibrating it for color reproduction and it's still brighter than my crt (dual-head).
accept that all inexpensive monitors have pathetic stands (tilt only). a few years ago i bought a 19" viewsonic for nearly $300 and even it came with a crappy stand. ben advertises a buy.com deal for a neoflex stand ($35, i think) and i've bought two of them and really like them (effortless height adjustment, 90 degree rotation for landscape/portrait). yeah, with a more expensive monitor you get a better stand, but those more monitors usually cost way more than these cheaper monitors plus a $35 neoflex stand.
Got it. Works fine, but don't expect a lot of frills.
I paid $450 for an 18 inch Dell. How things have changed in a couple of years.
i had this. i use this mainly to watch movies and work. it's great.
Good no-frills monitor.
