I own this and I am very pleased with the performance thus far. I also own a WD and the Acomdata is much faster, probably due to the fact its 7200 rpm vs. 5400 in the WD.
It doesn't need a fan unless, of course, you actually want it to work for any length of time.

Stick the $100 WD Caviar (above) into a $40 Antec case, and have something reliable that will last.
