I have this. It's an outstanding product. It gives great looking HD video - even in low light, is very compact and cheap. I bought it 2 years ago for $250. I've considered upgrading to a canon HG20 but after comparing video quality it doesn't seem worth it.
how is the battery? how long is it going to last? If I want a spare one, what web site do I find it? It seems its manufaturer is China.
is the quality good for taking pictures too?

It uses a standard NP-60 battery. It comes with 2 of them. Each one lasts about half an hour of continuous shooting.
Still picture quality is not good. I use it for video only.
