This contains a 1 3/4" speaker. It's fine for hooking up to your phone or ipod, but don't expect to fill a whole room with sound.
These orbits are actually pretty good small speakers. They produce very good sound and three AAA last around 24 hrs of playback.
I hooked it to my laptop and played StarCraft II. Cannot handle my tanks ka-booms. Probably burned the coil.
