so what is it? i read some reviews and people talk about signal strength... i dont get it. I assume it plays the info over the internet (how else could it)... and it plays over your speakers... so what's the point of the usb? just to load software? at most it could be a security device to make sure you paid for it... but its $10, just using their software with ads would be better for them right?

anyway, if anyone has any insight to this device i'm curious what it actually does.

I think all it is is software loaded onto a drive which let's you get into a lot of hard coded websites or perhaps accesses a server somewhere for the listings. You can then browse through the selected stations and listen to any. Some are real radio stations and some are virtual and exist on the web only.

The signal strength that people are referring to is related to the output quality of the stations themselves. They need to be at least 150kb/sec or above to get a decent "reception" if you will. Otherwise it keep farting in and out.

As I wrote before you can use RadioTime.com or shoutcast to reach a zillion stations without a subscription.
