Been up for 5 minutes, "currently unavailable".
Available from Amazon (Marketplace) for $40.
How accurate are these things....??
I had a very similar model that lasted for about 2 years. It was pretty reliable and gave accurate readings... until it just stopped working one day.
Brookstone were selling their home brand of these for $20 last week - bought one.
Wonder why we can't buy this. Guess I will try tomorrow.
Was Brookstone 3 day forcast?
I love the description on Amazon that notes that "the signal reaches 90% of American homes". Interesting statistic. Doubt it's based on anything as precise as a cell-tower map.
do these things work over time?
Does anyone know how this works? How does it get it's info? Cell towers? Does this mean if you can get cell signal it works in your area?
I have this in NYC and it works pretty well.
#9 I would guess these receive a broadcast signal like the ones that atomic clocks are tuned to. I assume there is some kind of national weather radio signal. Sorry for the comment about "cell towers", I only meant that as a comparison of coverage maps, not signal types.
These are cool. Be advised they only support the "major" cities, with a few exceptions. And if you live in a nearby city, the temp will often be off a few degrees vs the reported temp at the main cities wx station.
#9, I believe these receive wireless pages with their update date. There are other data sets like stock info, sports info, etc. broadcast over the paging network. Bushnell has/had a $50 rebate going on for their branded 5 day C and CX models of this unit.
#7, as far as the 90% coverage goes, that is misleading big time. I believe there are only 150 supported cities in the weather data set that this unit receives. At least one city per state, and obviously a few more cities in highly populated states like California. So be SURE you verify that your city is covered before you buy one.
Google these for more information. fatbacon has a thread on the Bushnell models that were on rebate + clearance at Walmart.

#6, the Brookstone is a _5_ day forecast

The "right now" data seems to be a few hours behind, looking at the temps, but it's as accurate as the Accuweather in Forecastfox
