I have been planning on building a computer for a while now. I will have the full amount I need for the %100 complete system in about two months.

Can anyone who is more tech savvy tell me if I should wait on buying parts or pick up on deals like this over the course of the next two months.

So far I have been buying things that I only notice prices do not shift much on or are absurdly cheap. (case, wireless card, disk drive, a fan, sata cable x2).

The conclusion of Ben's benchmark link:

Despite being an astonishing £600 cheaper than the exorbitantly-priced Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition, the X6 1090T BE still isn't a very good buy. That's because despite being clocked at a respectable 3.2GHz and having a useful auto-overclocking feature in Turbo Core, it's based on a comparatively old architecture – K10, which is in reality only a tweaked version of the ancient K8 architecture dating way back to 2003.

Maybe this is a silly question but what was wrong with the older architecture? I seem to see AMD processor's being used in a lot of builds I have seen.

I strongly disagree with it being a poor buy. For the price, it is untouchable (although one could argue the phenom ii x4 955 or 965 are the better buy), and the AM3 socket still has some life left in it. Intel's i7 is faster by a good margin, and Intel is charging a hefty margin because of it. The only i7 worth buying IMO is the cheapest available (the 930 at the moment), anything else is far too expensive for what you are getting.

Reviewers are kind of stuck with their head in the sand, the older architectures are always more desirable when the CPUs are otherwise competitive in benchmarks because they do better at the software most people who build their own (so they are getting the prices mentioned) use - software they already own.

However, there is a fair argument to be made that someone expecting to make use of a 6 core processor may need newer software, otherwise they might save some money buying a X4 or X2 and unlocking an extra core or two.

The reviewer also failed to mention the often higher cost of an intel platform due to higher board costs. In the end the conclusions were a failure for assuming they know what Joe Random would use a PC for instead of using age old formula of factoring for what the budget will allow and THEN which CPU within that budget is best at specific apps/versions the owner will run.

This is a great deal. For the price point, the performance can't be beat! I play around with a lot of VM, and for that more cores the better. In for one! Pair it up with a Gigabyte 890FX Mobo, and you if want you can build two PC for the price of 1 Intel. And if you know how to do clustering or have programs that use distributed computing AMD wins. If you are still interested in buying intel, why not go all the way and buy a MAC that way you know for sure you are getting ripped off!

I've used AMD in all my builds. Never a problem; the CPU's offer great value and reliability. For some people, spending the extra $$$ for an i7, along with the other costs, doesn't make sense given what they'll be using the machine for.

An important note missing from the title and description is "OEM" (requires CPU Fan). I know, everyone already has a spare fan, but it can add to the overall cost of the deal.

#1 If I were you, I wait untill I got 100% of the money in two months time. Then buy. Because, Price will drop for sure, Some price won't drop, But the chance gets better when you wait.. Yes!. For 265 is the best price at this point. Can't be beat anywhere else at this time, and If you add a cpu cooler then the price would same as the retail package price, you can check time to time here. I use this to see what the average going price for stuff, Not to buy..

    http://www.pricewatch.com/gallery/cpu/1090t

You also need a 890board and ddr3 memory, Pay attention what the 890 board offer, like dual PCI-E slot,DDR3 O/C to 1600 some are 2100 and higher, Some board can handle 125watts max, Some are 140max. It all depend what you need? The basic 890 board got all the bells already.. If you bought a new board this year Check-up on the BIOS updates, Some updates will support 6 cores. most don't. The 890 itself can support the 6 cores without any updates, make sure you get a good powersupply. And if you want faster, Add a Soid State Drive..

#4,5,6,7 and 8 give good advice.. Nothing, But the Truth..
