Dont buy the q6600, it was awesome value for the buck until a year ago, not anymore.

But then if you already have the 6600 then it's not worth the $200 on the cpu plus m0therboard cos its not a big leap.

#1, at 125 watts, I think AMD already overclocked the living bacon out of it.

This processor is awesome. I got it a couple of weeks ago (paid $229)and it is so fast. Look into the Asrock AOD790GX motherboard. Boots to Windows in about 5 seconds.

at 125watts, it requires its own generator. good God, we are told to use cfls instead of incandescent bulbs in order to save 20watts of power and then amd sells this monster! in a server, with 16gbs of ram running a few vms, this would be a great way to consolidate machines but for a home machine? really? what games require this kind of power? is vista that much of a resource hog? my 26 cubic foot refrigerator and my 18 cubic foot refrigerator, TOGETHER use less juice than this beast - never mind the rest of the machine that will be built around it! AMD is catering to their newest financial backers who just so happen to be one of our suppliers of oil...

#4...I have the 9950, everything I have read says maybe a 6-8% gain. Not enough for me to switch.
