While I have this CPU and very nice, I think it a time contemplate the FX-4300 Vishera even if it is $35 more. The difference in a 95W vs 125W in efficiency will pay back in the long run. Now if the build budget is the primary concern you have to stay Phenom, especially in gaming their almost no difference. Where a Vishera has merit is easy OC’n and it will start pulling ahead even if this 965 Black rewards you with a strong 3.8Ghz, not to mention the power efficiency and cooling.
I think we've hit the tipping point, such Phenom II X4 965 Black will wane from the market, while at the same time pricing for the FX-4300 will decrease. This might be the last time we'll have this quandary. And actually I don’t think either side is wrong to be on.
I'm still running a Phenom II X3 720 unlocked to Quad core and overclocked from 2.8 to 3.5 Ghz on my gaming rig. I think I paid $130 for it when it came out.
This is probably too much CPU for most Ben's Bargainers to handle. They only need enough CPU horsepower to watch their porno videos and be able to slow motion the good parts, buy asswashers, survival tools, and other cheap crap you don't really need online...
This ain't that great of a price especially if you live in one of their sales tax collection states. Watch for a deal from Tiger Direct.
Decent processor for the money.
