I call it "recycling"...
Had a set of four of these for years, and though they look cool, are fun to use on occasion, etc. I rarely found myself using them and was washing them more often to get the dust off of 'em than to down a few frosties. They're unwieldy for dishwashers (long, but of necessity bottom-heavy so they tip around the posts and have to be bottom tray washed) and a bit of a pain to hand wash. Comes down to cases, a 16oz. pint glass does the job pretty well if you're not just swigging out of bottle or can. YMMV, etc.
I agree. As a semi-pro beer drinker with my own home brewery, I know that Pilsner glasses are supposed to be optimally designed to improve the taste of pilsner beer. I don't have any pilsner glasses, I either use a frozen mug, or a frozen 16 oz glass, similar to these:

It's perfectly fine to serve in a frozen mug or glass. If you beer is room temp, the mug will cool it to a reasonable temp. Some beers are meant to be served very cold (ever read the Guinness Bottle?).
The real deciding factor though is, "Do you like the beer the way it is served"? Beer is meant to be enjoyed. Too bad there's so many beer snobs trying to ruin it.
