$10 price drop. Newegg has the Antec DF-35 Black Steel Computer Case for $70 - $30 rebate [Exp 9/25] = $40 with free shipping. Features fleet-release design, top-loaded 2.5" bay, efficient ventilation, and a front I/O panel.
Good price and great reviews...only negative is no 3.0 ports.
Ive bought antec before. Heavy cases. You can can a great case for half of this with no rebate. Why do you need a case that weighs 30 pounds? It just sits on the floor.
A great case for $20 and no rebate? Link please.
bclinton there are several drawbacks with flimsy junk cases.
1) They tend to be cramped when a mere extra 1" in some spots helps a lot.
2) They vibrate more
3) They can become deformed more easily during shipping or just picking it up.
4) Deformed cases put stress on circuit boards and can lead to chip solder pad cracks. How many people realize their new board didn't die it was twisted apart?
5) They tend to look fugly
6) You can't set much of anything on top so you lose desk space by having things that could've been on the case, on the desk instead.
7) With a thick case you can make a clean fan hole cut using motorized cutters, can pick a case that doesn't look like confetti from too many passive vent holes and only put fan or intake holes where you want them for the most effective airflow with minimum noise escape and single point filtered intake so the case doesn't build up dust much. On this last point I concede a lot of modern cases that are sturdy do have too many cutouts and vent slits already, so there's a secondary case choice factor in addition to thick metal.
Lastly, this is not a 30 lb case, it weighs 15 lb. Even their DF-85 full tower case weighs only 24 lbs.
Love my Antec Lanboy Air.
Spend the extra bucks...its worth it.
And it has front 3.0 usb port and handles on top which I didnt think was a big thing until I moved it around a couple times and glad it had the handles.
