BestBuy just clearanced these for $9.99 or 11.99 depending on location. My local Cincy store was sold out yesterday. Maybe others will get lucky.

Judging by your shrill posting tantrum today, it looks like you're still very, very angry about Ben viciously retroactively owning you with the bacon filter last night. *smirk*

#1, the BB clearance price is hit-and-miss. Went to the two in my area and they were at about $72. But I'm hoping for them to drop. Would be a far better deal than this.

This is a good power supply. It's a seasonic made PSU(Seasonic is a very high quality PSU manufacturer, they make some of the PC P&C power supplies), with a pretty good amount of 12v power, very nice voltage regulation, good efficiency, and acceptable ripple.

However, during the review of the 650watt version of this PSU at Jonnyguru.com, during the "hot box" test, this power supply blew a fuse when running at its maximum load. Additionally, this fuse was soldered in place, so it would be difficult to replace. On the bright side, since it was a fuse that blew, and not a capacitor, there was essentially no chance of it damaging any of the computer components. Also, Antec was happy to replace the PSU after this occurred.

Of course, there really isn't any normal computer that uses 650watts of power, so this isn't really a situation anyone would encounter. Even a PC with an overclocked Intel quad-core, two 8800GTX's in SLI(both overclocked), a couple hard drives, couple optical drives, a good gamer motherboard, and some fast ram only consumes around 450-475watts at max load. For this 430watt Trio, you could run a gaming computer with an Intel Core2Duo and dual 8800GT's in SLI.

Keep in mind that this is a plain aluminum power supply with all but one of its cables unsleeved. If you have a windowed case, you may not want this.

Overall, I'd have to say this is a great power supply, but this isn't all that great of a price. The Cooler Master RealPower 600watt PSU has been on sale for the same price as this, and it offers a lot more wattage, while being more efficient.

Not really, anyone competent enough to open a PSU, figure out what the replacement fuse should be rated for, find/order/install it, should find soldering one a rather trivial thing. However, if someone knows that much they should also know what I'm about to mention because it's crucial.

This is not accurate. Fuses don't just blow unless something downstream was consuming excessive current. Heat doesn't make a fuse blow by itself.

The odds are that a transistor blew shorted and that could indeed send excessive voltage. Even if some other part, when you have a transformer with a fixed winding ratio and suddenly there is a high surge current that means a high power loss either in the powered parts or downstream in the PSU, either of which is likely to go POP if that fuse (or the safety shutdown circuit) isn't very fast. A fuse is the slowest control in a PSU, the last result and will only blow as a safety measure when something else has already gone wrong.

We can't necessarily fault the P... [Truncated]

CompWiz17, is this 750W Cooler Master the one you're thinking of?

    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0265149

That's way more power than I need, but there seems to be a drought of decent deals at the moment, and it seems the most bang-for-the-buck. Same price as this one after rebate, and lots more headroom.

edit: Well, I went perusing through the PSU bargains listed over the last couple of months, and *surprise, surprise* Ben's been pretty lazy. Not only did he miss (ignore?) the Cooler Master one, but he also didn't list these ones:

Corsair VX 450W for $60 AR ($10) with free shipping at Buy.com

Corsair VX 550W for $65 AR ($20) with free shipping at Buy.com

Neither are great bargains, but the 450W one is at least as good as this one, and the 550W one is definitely better.

well, I was mentioning the 600watt version of Cooler Master's Real Power Pro line which was on sale for $60 a while ago, but the one you linked is an even better deal. The Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750watt power supply has one of the highest power supply efficiencies around. If you're looking to get a power supply, that Cooler Master is a great deal, and a great choice.

nice finds. Those Corsair power supplies are good quality power supplies, and as you said, they're certainly better deals than this Antec 'deal'.
