A good price for a small UPS. Not good for a high powered desktop but for a some AV electronics it would work.
Out of stock.
25 for 550 model at officedepot. Just picked one up had about 10 left
lists as 2-42 minutes...2 minutes is barely enough time to shut down machine/process depending on what you are doing and you have to be in front of the machine...
but then...better than nothing if you live in roving blackout country that is CA
#3 if you're talking about this it's in-store only
this is worth it just for the battery
Out of stock already? Man, not good planning.
sold out
Rats! Its out of stock! ... It's available in stores in low quantities; I'm checking to see if I can buy online & pickup local.
I got up @ 4 AM, grabbed one, and apparently, I got it for free. So I went ahead and got myself 2 altec lansing speaker systems.
Replacement battery costs more than $20
Picked a couple up in store. Good price, box says 28 min runtime, comes with shudown software. Can't beat that...
Too bed it's OOS...this was a great price.
This is showing in stock again (may depend on locality) and it's a great deal for a good UPS by in my opinion the best UPS brand.
Replacement batteries are not that expensive. This probably uses the smaller battery their 350VA model uses, roughly 3.5 or 4AH. That's a $10 battery, less in volume prices. THeir 5550VA uses a 7 to 8AH (depending on manufacturer) that costs about $15. There is no reason to buy a battery from APC, the batteries are standard sizes commonly available, though on their upper end UPS they put a proprietary connector dongle on the pack which you'd want to take off the old battery pack before recycling it.
As for 2 minutes, you have to be kidding if you set up a system so badly it takes 2 minutes to just kill the processes. 30 things running have concurrent kill and any system working properly should shut down in under a minute, maybe a little longer if you're trying to make it hibernate and you have a ton of memory but very slow HDD.
Runtime on these cheap consumer UPS isn't even a factor for most, it's whether the unit has a high enough true VA capacity to keep running the first 3 seconds it has switched on.
I could easyly pick-up ten if available. Batteries cost 37 bucks with tax here at Battries Connection for replacement. I got ten power supply bought 3 years ago, paid 30 bucks each new. All need battery replacement. I always try to look for deals like this, This is so worth it..
