Apple is all about quality... yes the components aren't as equally priced if buying a PC. But buying a Macbook is very much about the form factor and condition as it is the usability.
As a FYI - the HP Envy 13 which is of strikingly similar build to this is several hundred more. Althought with some better spechs. Now that is overpriced...
Hmm, strange. If I configure the Vostro 1320 deal currently on the front page as closely as possible to the specs of this insanely overpriced Apple, it rings up at $901.
Absolutely perplexing.
#19's right. I tried to spec this dell vostro 1320 to match the apple and I ended up at $900

still pricey but for a mac that is cheap.

Don't forget, the vostro is considered a budget line and therefore the model is only available in slower DDR2 RAM and a worse graphics card. The macbook at this price is a decent value compared to other similarly spec'd comps. Overall I think the 13.3" macbooks are a good performance/size/weight/price ratio. Once you go to 15" and 17" that is less true cuz it cost more, weighs more, and there alot of windows machines at that size for cheaper.
