At least this is under $1000 and that has to be harsh on Apple to have something this cheap now.

When you can get a $200 Dell and run OSX on it. Then find out that OSX and Win7 are almost identical to the vast majority of end users. You'll be glad you didn't shell out $1300 for a Mac.

#2 sounds like one of those talk radio nutjobs. Facts are that even if Dell sold a system for $200 you can't run OS X on it LEGALLY, Win7 and OSX are only identical in that they are both computer operating systems, and this post shows that nobody has to shell out $1300 for a Mac - this one is $450 less than that.

    The haters love to hate.

OS X is so much faster and less-bloated than Win7. I just moved from 10.5 to 10.6 and got 15GB of space back.

Really though, look at those specs and tell me that it's worth $850... If Apple could actually make their stuff worth the cost, more people would buy it. Personally, I'll stick to running Linux and use Windows when I have to.

#3 Your right, I guess. The Dell 10V netbook I have didn't really cost $200. It was $198 out the door. Sorry about that. For $850 I could get twice the PC and run Win7 (a better OS anyways). Just don't know why anyone whould pay the Apple tax.

#4 no you didn't, it just calculates your drive space differently. Now it lies to you just like the hard drive manufactures. E A 1GB HD is really 930-ishGB. It used to and should use base 2, to calculate drive space, it now uses base 10.

Base 10 gives a more accurate and true calculation, computers use base 2 because it's less taxing on the processor. Although 10.6 is slimmer, those free disk space numbers are definitely exaggerated. As for the Apple tax, one thing you do get when you buy Apple is a lot of quality software out of the box and resale value. I just sold an iMac G5 for 450 bucks.

#6: Using your logic you could get a Windows or Mac laptop [or practically anything you want] for *free*, all you'd have to do is steal it!

#6 Why do you even care people pay "apple tax" if we can afford a Mac defiantly means we can afford a Dell. So if I didnt link the Mac I can throw some chump change to buy your netbook.

-- Does anyone remember in 2001 when a standard Toshiba Satellite laptop was on Black Friday only sale for $900? I lined up 3 hrs early to get it & got it
-- Folks, you forget that laptop prices, including Macs have gone WAY down. But so has most people's pocketbooks.
