No, I think the $1800 price tag for a 15" laptop gave it away as an Apple before looking at the specs. Seeing the specs just kind of rubbed it in that you would be paying more than double the price for the same hardware.

People who buy this are probably the same people who pay $6 for a cup of coffee.

Actually comparable PC and Mac laptop systems are priced comparably. The DELL below has a smaller HD, Has only one graphics chip - Mac has two.

So, you compare a Mac on sale to a Dell at full price? You MacElite never seem to understand the important concept: Dells are on sale ALL THE TIME. Every month, you can get that computer or another similar one for $300-400 off. Macs are almost never on sale unless they are refurbs or a discontinued model. That's the difference.

And I'd expect someone on bensbargains to actually know that.

#7 - you put a Quadro in that PC and Dell build-a-bundles are horribly priced. Dell Latitude E6500 starts at $776, so you added an extra thousand dollars in overpriced add-ons. In fact, I think the graphics card add-on was almost an extra grand all by itself.

#7 - The Mac listed here is $1949, it only gets to $1799 after you wait for the rebate, if you get the rebate.

no, the macbook pro's not cheap, and for equivalent power you could save a noticeable amount, but you'd be hard pressed to find another 2.66 GHz laptop with a GeForce 9600GT, webcam, 90 WHr battery, and <6 lbs weight with said battery, regardless of price. Some laptops have similar power (cheaper), some laptops might weigh the same or less (less powerful), I don't know of one that has all of that in one package...

wow please do your homework before you post these retarded, inflammatory comments...

first of all, this is a macbook PRO...these computers are marketed to PROFESSIONALS. so you are paying a lot because you are paying for the quality. nobody said you had to buy the pro model...you could easily buy the regular macbook for cheaper.

i won't go into all the details except for a few but apple doesn't market notebooks with crappy components. all their components are the latest components. i don't know exactly which computer zidane posted specs up for but i bet the reason it's only $500 is because i can almost guarantee it's using last year or even the year before's (e OLD) components. i can guarantee you the RAM and the FSB will not be nearly as fast as the models that apple packs...even compared to the regular non-pro macbooks. 2nd of all, the lenovo packs a piece of baconnaise integrated graphics chip that is maybe going to be half as good as the integrated 9400M on the macbooks and absolute garbage compared to any dedicated graphics card.

oh and how much RAM does windows vista recognize? last i checked, it was only 3GB so putting in any more than that into your computer until windows 7 comes out to cover up the mess that vista made won't do you any good. btw windows 7 is pretty much vista prettied up if you didn't already know.

so the lesson here is before you start talking trash, don't make any assumptions until you try the product out or at least do some homework. you may think you're getting a deal by buying a cheap computer but people buy apple products for a reason. a real comparison w/similar components will be roughly similar in cost, perhaps a little more for apple. i'm not doing a price comparison cuz they are out there...go find out for yourself. vista is baconnaise compared to mac os x and with the build quality of apple computers and customer service, i'd buy a mac any day.

oh yeah...have fun with all your spyware and viruses...

    #13,
What's wrong with Vista? I have been using it on my 3 computer since it came out, and I haven't had any problems. Maybe yours was full of User Errors.
