80gb super drive, yeah baby. what makes it super? flash?
I don't think so
These things are almost always refurbed by a non-apple company. This is why they are so cheap. Don't know if I would get this without the apple refurb warranty.
I bought a new apple two years ago. IT was the huge mistake. The freaking thing went through a VGA screen, a hard drive a keyboard and a motherboard on the first year of warranty. I did not buy the apple care and ended up getting a second mac book from ebay to continue getting it to work.
Do not get me wrong I still have the damn machine but I had a lot of trouble with it. Now if you get it refurbished then it might be a better machine than a new one off the shelf.
1GB DDR2 RAM! YAYYY!!!
Core Duo nevertheless!
#4 Apples don't need as much memory as IBMs -- I have no idea why. Speeds tests are generally almost the same 1GB to 4GB (if it will even take 4GB -- some won't).
Speed test does not mean anything for the memory, unless they run many memory-intensive applications at once as a benchmark, but they don't.
In fact, in those speed oriented tests, more RAM often means slightly worse results, because the OS is managing more RAM.
Apple and IBMs use the same chips.
#5 ha, you are full of it did you try running leopard with 1 or 2 gig of RAM? You need at least 4 GB to be in the safe zone. Snow Leopard is not that much better.
I have 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB HD and PC running on slower processor will beat the crap out of my crappy mac.
#7, I have leopard running on my mac and it runs just fine on 2GB, the only reason why you need more than 2GB is if you are running windows also. I am waiting till the DDR3 1066 RAM comes down in price to get 4GB... 1GB is probably a little low for leopard though.
Oh, and my Windows PC's always seem to run slower. They also need reboots on a regular basis, and a yearly fresh install to keep it running.
The only reason I need to reboot my macbook is for updates, It never needs a reboot because of performance issues. I've gone months with only sleeping it and it runs perfect.
#4 - #9: Why don't you boys just get a dual boot machine. Windows when you want to do work and be productive and Leopard when you want to look superficial and play.
BURN SUCKAS!
Lol, #10.
#10 you hit the nail in the head dude.
#9 I have not rebooted 2003 windows machine in month. I get more updates for the mac requiring an update than windows.
#10, I do use mac for WORK, I have windows running in vmware just in case but I rarely need it. I don't need dual boot cuz I run both simultaneously. I get the best of both worlds.
