Apple Store has the refurbished Apple 16GB iPod Touch for $219 + $0 shipping = $219 shipped. It has 802.11b/g WiFi built in, and because of that they include the Safari web browser + YouTube, complete with the functionality that you've seen on the iPhone. Battery life is 22 hours audio, 5 hours for video. [BizRate]

apple refurbs are usually pretty good. I'm using a 30 gig 4th gen ipod I bought refurbished and it's still working, about 1.75 years later. As for the reason that it had to be refurbished already?? That's a different story.

I saw the ipod touch for the first time the other day. Holy crap those things are thin! I'm seriously impressed. I wish I didn't hate apple and itunes so much

Apple takes back almost anything and gives you a new one. This includes phones that may be malfunctioning due to software, stupid user, etc. I assume these all come back as refurbs. I got a refurb ipod which is fine, battery died after about 3 years though.

All the iPods I've bought have been refurbs and each one has been in pristine condition and 100% functional.

But why would you get the iTouch when you can get the iPhone for about the same (up front) cost?

My dad always get referb items from Apple. They are cheaper and work just as good as new ones. We have never been burned by Apple.

I bought 2 video ipods about 6 months ago, haven't had any problems with them. Since they went to flash memory ipods have become a lot more reliable. and remember just because its a refurb doesn't mean it wasn't just used for a few days and then returned when buyer decided he wanted something else. apple isn't allowed to sell returned items as new, they have to put the refurb name on it.

You seriously think the 64gig'll be in any way competitive with other MP3 players? Look at the prices of Apple products over the years - you always seem to pay 40 - 100% extra for an i<anything>.

#14 because owning an i<anything> gets you in on the ground floor of the social cult that apple is trying to make. "M$ is so ridiculous, and windows is crappy" then why did Microsoft almost drive Apple out of existence?

#6 because after purchasing the touch you don't have to pay $70 per month to use it.

#6, because I like my small clamshell phone and awesome/cheap monthly contract on another carrier and because AT&T service doesn't work in my area.

Please note that this is the 1st gen that does not have outside speaker - while only 1st gen. can be jail-broken. I would go for it.
