NewEgg.com has the Apple 16GB iPod Touch for $299 + $7 shipping = $306 shipped. It has 802.11b/g WiFi built in, and because of that they include the Safari web browser + YouTube, complete with the functionality that you've seen on the iPhone. Battery life is 22 hours audio, 5 hours for video.

This is, without question, the finest media player in the known Universe.

If any of you fools wishes to challenge this verifiable FACT, speak now, or forever hold your peace. *smirk*

m0f0, you ignorant Apple luving slvt...

Any fool knows the XBOX Media Center is the best media player (your claim didn't specify portability). Can this crappy Apple hardware access media on drive shares on a local network, output pictures slide shows at 1080i, and not charge users for upgrades? Oh, and can it do so under $100?

My thoughts exactly, Vic. Also it cant access the net without a wireless router in the vicinity, unlike the iphone which can, without needing to 'call' out.

OK, if this thing is $300, how much more expensive is it to add the phone feature? That is, without being shackled to a phone company. The cell-phone technology shouldn't cost more than an additional hundred bucks, right?

Yeah I'm waiting for one with microSDHC and GPS. Now that would be a fine piece of hardware.

Too bad this thing has no mic on it? If so just run skype at your WiFi hotspot.

#15 i think you can make a mic for this, you make a dongle that attaches to the main port on the bottom or you can find one to buy. just google ipod touch mic. there are countless vids on youtube of kids making skype/voip calls using ipod touches. these things are great, i'd prefer the iphone, but for 306 this is a steal.
