Finally a useful capacity. JR.com has the long-awaited Apple 32GB iPod Touch $459 + $7 shipping = $466 shipped. Tax in NY only. It has 802.11b/g WiFi built in, plus Safari web browser + YouTube. Battery life is 22 hours audio, 5 hours for video. Includes five new applications: Mail, Maps, Weather, Notes, and Stocks. [BizRate]

Is this going to get the new slimmer shell and GPS functionality when the iPhone 2.0 is released Real Soon Now (tm), or much later? I'd wait...

-iPod touch is already very thin
    - I won't bet on GPS functionality (more specifically HW GPS receiver) on iPod Touch, It is only useful when you have Maps available all the time. You either have a dedicated GPS Application with locally store map, or have map stream on demand. It make sense for iPhone because it can get maps through google and cell network.

Touch should have a GPS, it already has enough space to download maps, and using a GPS is free...hmmm...why haven't they done that yet?

True #9 but remember this is an Apple product. As such it is so much superior to every other technological product ever produced that it should cost as much or more than decent laptop computer. Frankly, we should all feel fortunate that Apple is choosing to let us pay this little for the priviledge of owning one.

I believe the new IPod's are going to include reverse GPS technology. From what I have heard, Jobs worked out a deal with the RIAA. If your reverse GPS enabled IPod detects that you have illegal copies of music (e tunes you ripped from your own CD's), it will send your exact coordinates to the RIAA. They, in turn, will send their jack-boot thugs (lawyers) to shake you down. It's a brave new world.
