Buy.com has the refurbished Apple 8GB iPod Touch (2nd Generation) for $170 with free shipping. It has 802.11b/g WiFi built in, and because of that they include the Safari web browser + YouTube, complete with the functionality that you've seen on the iPhone. Battery life is 36 hours audio, 6 hours for video. [Compare]

$150 for the refurb from Apple. I could never tell the difference between their refurbs and new ones.

I've never had a problem with one of their refurbs.

Apple's refurbs have always been excellent for me as well.

$199 for a new 3rd Gen 8GB @ Apple Store, how is this a deal?

Agreed with all comments. Although Apple seems to excel at providing reliable refurbs, they are also notorious for overcharging the consumer. I'd go for a new one as with the new release, these are likely to drop in price.

Really? It can make phone calls and get the web over the cell network, and use the [nonexistent] camera? Frickin' sweet.

#4, there is no "3rd" generation touch 8GB. You must get the 16/32 for get the faster processor and GPU.

As for myself, I just ordered the 8GB direct from Apple. I see it as a half-price kindle, with the bonus of fitting in a pocket. If only men could carry purses for all this cool tech..

I have the 2 generation and the battery duration with the wireless on is a joke, I bet this was not improved in the 3rd generation.... well the 3rd generation was a disappointment, it seems that they put all the effort in the nano this year.

it sucks that the touch didn't get a camera as well but it did get better internals which support opengl 2.0 for better gaming. and yes this isn't a deal

It's been over a week since the 3rd generation Ipod launch and Ben still hasn't bothered to update the Ipod Touch Tracker with the new models and pricing. Wake up Ben.

#8 You can carry a purse just expect to get your a** kicked when you do.

Hey Apple the Itouch needs a built in mic, what I have to remember to bring the ear buds with me so I can record a message, guess first message should be hey dumb sh*t dont forget the ear buds. kinda weighted down already with the frekin camera in my pocket cause you failed to add it into the Itouch.

    Hey whats up with that?

This is what some old tech stock you needed to get rid of.

like #12 said, they need a built in microphone. they're dirt cheap to add and is tiny which doesn't take up a lot of physical space. can't use shazam unless you have an external mic...weak!

    http://www.shazam.com/music/web/pages/iphone.html

that's a bigger dealbreaker for me than the camera which would have been a big plus too. c'mon apple, stop holding out on the goods...i'd pay the extra $ to have those 2 things. and steve jobs, stop bullshitting me that "people don't want the camera" explanation. and no, i don't want the iphone..bacon's slightly thicker and heavier and i don't need the service

#8 here again. Got my Pod, and they included software 2 instead of 3. Support _will not_ give the upgrade, even though apple's site is mum about the software shipped. Another $5 gone, buyer beware.
