there're tax (around $17), I just get 1 + case (must-have to prevent crash) + tax = total $274. Anyway, it's the best ipod touch price till now. I mean best deal while 30% cash back on Ebay was over.

    180 + tax + shipping ...
    I'd rather buy a 16GB refurb one.
    219 + tax + free shipping = 231.92.

So an 8 gb mp3 player for $180 is a good deal with the way price of flash memory is currently free falling? I think the term "good deal" needs to be redefined. This deal sucks if you ask me.

Hard to imagine someone who types "wut r u smokin'..." calling someone else a moron.

The iPod touch is an amazing device. When considering the price you should keep in mind the vast feature set. Email, video, music, web, maps, calendar and games that rival those found on the DS. There are thousands of third party that apps you can add via the iTunes app store, that take the functionality well beyond the aforementioned staple features. Honestly, when I need to check my email or want to surf the web briefly, I find myself reaching for my iPod more often than not.

all those people who say this sucks is ignorant. its not just an mp3 player... i doubt you can play 08234098 games on a regular mp3. i doubt you can have social network on a regular 50 dollar mp3. along with many other apps. the only thing i can think of a 50 dollar mp3 player that might have something the ipod dont have is is a wall charger and/or fm tuner. woot again. 32 gigs 2nd gen for 248 40 percent off ebay. 10 percent instant paypal and 30 percent through Microsoft live.

#12, Are you sure the games rival the DS? The apps are definitely neat and cool. But if I'm going online, I'll use my laptop or computer.

#15, I should clarify. Many games on the iPod Touch rival the DS games in terms of graphics. That's not to say that the iPod game library comes even close to the DS. DS games have far more depth. The point I was trying to make is, that the iPod Touch is great gaming platform in addition to the other awesome features.

Regarding the web/email sufing. I reach for my laptop when I actually intend on replying to emails or doing some serious surfing. For quick sessions though, it is much easier to check my email, facebook, or URL on the ipod.

My husband just won one of these. He has a G1 phone and a really nice MP3 player with an expandable memory already. He received the iPod yesterday and was trying to set it up on our router, etc. I am trying to talk him into giving it to me without too much guilt and with real reasons. His MP3 player has the expandable memory which is great for his business trips so he can put movies on the SD cards and still take music, too. The G1 has the data plan with free apps, email, etc. He also has the Blackberry for work as well as the laptop and the whole deal. Can anyone help us understand the advantages of the iPod in this scenario? I would love to have a iPod but this is his that he won and I do want him to enjoy it fully in all honesty.

#10 The iPod touch 2 gen holds about 1750 songs and 10 hours of video.
#18 Well!. Since, your husband won this iPod. The best way it to ask him to borrow it to you, Then after a week or two. Tell him you use it alot, and you will hold on to it. untill he need it back, since he have G1,Blackberry and a Laptop,MP3 player and all the good stuff.

One thing about the iTouch, that I like alot. can send and recived emails, actually can surf the web, with Safari. Play games, I download about 4 games for free and a few app for free also. Poker is my favorite game. can play live with player all around the world, usually about 40,000 player day and night. I download about 1000 picture on this iTouch, and 4 movies. still have 4gb left. I got the 8gb iTouch 2 gen. downloaded the 2.2 version free. Also another thing, easy to carry, send emails, light surffing the web, watching V thur YouTube. games and movies on the go, beauitiful 3.5 screen.

The Cons: Video converter, take too,too long. I'am using a custom buit, AMD 3.0ghz dual core with 4gb of memory Seagate 7200rpm with 32mb, window Vista Ult, still too long. The iTouch can only works with all features when you get connected to any wireless router. If you don't have wireless signal, all you can do is watch videos and picture and games that don't require internet connection. Safari is kind of weak, needs inprovement. you can surf the web but can't open too many page. No Adobe Reader, and a few App. I'am waiting for the iTouch 8th or 10th Generation, where you can truely suff anywhere on the web, FM Radio. TV Station and all the good stuff..
