Apple Store has the refurbished Apple iPad 2 Wi-Fi 16GB Tablet (Black, MC769LL/A) for $319 with free shipping. All Apple Store refurbished models include a new battery, outer shell and full 1-year warranty. Other refurbished iPad models are on sale, including:
Apple refurbs are every bit as good as new except for packaging. Same Warranty, same condition, same everything. You even get a new battery and those white apple stickers. This is not a bad deal. IOS is like a dumbed down version of Android but then a tablet is like a dumbed down version of a laptop. The hardware is good quality and apps run well. Not bad for casual tasks.
Call me crazy, but I'm in for one. I've got a few notebooks (ranging from brand new to kind of old), but I'm looking for something more portable for e-mail and e-book reading.
I figure that this should beat a Kindle Fire.
Microcenter has the new one for $360 in my "local" store (an hour away), but I'm willing to save the $40 and get free shipping.
Since buying my iPad 2 - I hardly ever use my laptop when traveling for business anymore... which I do a lot of. Can't say enough good about it. I jailbroke a Nook Color with Android and hated it. The apps were nice but the customization was insanely complex and deep in the menus. I am one to highly customize Windows 7 and Red Hat... so it's not like I can't figure this stuff out. iOS is much more friendly than Android ever aspired to be.
Just ordered another 32GB iPad 2 refurb for for a friend. iOS is a great deal IMO.

tablets are overrated but it's great for kids.
microcenter had coupon for additional $22 off so $338 for brand new in store.
They still cost this much for a refurbished one, WOW.
Great for children and grandparents but anyone else no to Apple unless they're moron certified.
