There's no chance it's getting discounted anytime soon, but the 7.9" iPad Mini was finally introduced by Apple today. On Friday, it will be available for pre-order in three storage capacities, starting at $329 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only edition and $459 for the 16GB Wi-Fi + 4G LTE edition. No retina display, just 1024 x 768. For old-school computer users, the newly redesigned iMac might be more exciting news: the edge now measures just 5mm thin and the screen at long last has an anti-reflective coating.

Yawn. Yesterdays news. Google and everyone else has their version years ago why would I want to buy old tech?

    low-res, high price.

if you only want into the apple mobile ecosystem and don't have the room in your purse/pocket for a 10" ipad, then this is your answer.

i'm waiting for a rooted nook hd+ with cyanogenmod, though that's months or even a year off, but my nook color will do fine in the mean time.

$329 is way too high, I would start considering buying one if it's below $250, and I would pull out my credit card if it's $199

#5 wait until next week, and the 16Gb Nexus 7 should be $130 cheaper than the iPad Mini.

I have used Mac and PC. I am still using both. Mac wins. And I have used PC for more than 20 years.
I have used android and iPhone. iPhone wins. My android requires reboot regularly. My iPhone does not.
There are reasons for higher prices: higher costs.

Buy the iPaD MINI...then don't open the sealed box for 5 years..then sell it to those Apple collectors for $2000+. Have you seen what those Apple enthusiates are paying for brand new sealed iPHone 2G? $4000 and up.
