First day of release. Apple Store has the iPhone 5 16GB, 32GB and 64GB for
$199,
$299 and
$399, respectively, with 2-year AT&T, Verizon or Sprint agreements. The new iPhone is 18% thinner and 20% lighter, but it's also slightly taller with a larger 4" 1136 x 640 Retina display. It has a different dock connector, which of course requires you to shell out an extra $30 to $40 for an adapter to make it work with your existing docks.
Like Apple needs any more publicity from Ben
"...which of course requires you to shell out an extra $30 to $40 for an adapter to make it work with your existing docks. "
You mean works with your existing dorks....
o boy, get out of my way, I buy the newest iphone when it come out because I'm a geek... I'm really excited...
This reminds me of when Microsoft released their cavalcade of operating systems in the 90's. Geeks lined up around the block at Egghead standing there overnight to buy Windows 95... To buy a piece of crap...
"requires you to shell out an extra $30 to $40 for an adapter to make it work with your existing docks."
That's why I just bought Galaxy S3 yesterday after I know what the latest iPhone is.
In defense of some of these people I have seen so many people using beat up, screen broken, otherwise almost inoperable phones and waiting for a new one to come out and for the same $199 not wanting to be stuck with the old one. So they happy... I presume.
Why don't they buy a cell phone for rough service?
i think it's incredible how apple has gone from an innovator to an also ran in so short a timeframe.
@Sparky
It's because no matter how (debatably) innovative the original iPhone was, it hasn't changed all that much. Adding the ability to run apps was really their last big thing, and that was iOS 0 Everything since has been a minor upgrade to some functionality already baked in or a fix to something that should have been there in the first place. Or a gimmick that gets used for a week and then forgotten about.
People get sick of looking at the same old thing for years on end. I whipped out my old iTouch 2 that hasn't been updated in a few years--since they invented using folders and wallpaper but prevented my device from using those without a jailbreak. It's more or less indistinguishable from my iPhone 4 running iOS 6 other than the obvious having a camera and phone radio and such.
I have both Samsung Galaxy S and iPhone 4S.
The 4S wins. Big time.
For all the apple haters, try the iPhone and you'll never go back to whatever you were using. The build quality is second to none.

nice going apple
I'm holding out for the new samsung iphone s5.
I agree Shmeagle, Atlanta Apple store had a bunch of beat up, cracked up, scratched up phones just needing an excuse to upgrade (like me). I, however have decided the IPHONE 5 SCREEN IS JUST TOO SMALL. There, I said it...
RIP steve jobs
not really a hot deal. only the whole world already knew about this.
.
I GOT ONE
Not only for iPhone: In case you don't know: ask the carrier(s) if they give employee discount. You may get discount with Sprint if you work for that huge Jumbo aerospace company.
I wrote Android software for a living... have for several years at Sony and other major players. I have had all android phones (personally), except an second phone... iphone for work purposes a few times.
My carrier doesn't have iphones. And even I say:
Hands down.. Android is a buggy piece of baconnaise. Get an IPhone.
I already have the next big thing..... you will just be trying to catch up if you get this.
