Why, Ben, why? This is officially no longer a bargain website.

First: This is the regular refurbished price in Apple. I don't see a bargain here.

Second: The new mac pro 6 core is coming out soon. Suggest everyone to wait.
      http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/

Third: Imac i7 is fasting than this mac pro. not to mention the iMac i7 comes with the 27in LED screen, better video card and bigger hard drive but $300 cheaper than this mac pro. (consider both are refurbished $1849 vs $2149)

May be Apple give extra $$$$ for you post this kind of crap deal in your site. Go to f a t w a l l e t . c o m to find some decent deal.

      Ouch!
I wonder what the new (non-refurb) price is, if this constitutes a bargain.

#5 Amazon is selling the brand new unit for $2,318.98 , but Apple is selling this refurbished for $2149 +tax. I don't really see a good reason to buy this refurbished unit since they are almost the same price.

Well, $2499 is the full new price so this isn't all that exceptional of a price.

When the Intel Mac Pros first came out, PC-appologists laughed at the $2499 price. But then those whose eyes were open found they could not buy comparable Intel hardware from Dell or HP for that price.

This isn't a consumer grade machine. This is not a 3-year lease throw-away PC. Is built strong and heavy. 8 slots for ECC DRAM. 4 for SATA HD's on elegantly simple drive sleds. Two bays for optical drives. Two gigabit ethernet interfaces. Firewire, and a bunch of USB.

I don't care what hardware is in that box. You expect me to pay that much for a computer, it better include Jessica Alba sitting on my lap and doing....all my typing!! Wink

Boy that ECC ram is expensive!

#1, #4, & #10, I have been thinking same as you for the past several weeks.

Bens used to be first on my list, but I can definitely tell something has changed or is changing here.

Can't really put my finger on it, but something is "goingson"!

      Last year, I built a server with dual Quad-Core Xeon E5520 (2.26GHz), 12GB Memory, (3) 1 Terabyte drives, RAID5 Card, DVD-RW in a rackmount. Hardware cost was around $2000 or $2100.

I am not sure how this Apple is a deal.
